What Is a Texas Cottage Bakery?

A Texas Cottage Bakery is a home-based food business operating under the Texas Cottage Food Law (Texas Health & Safety Code, Chapter 437). This law allows individuals to produce and sell certain non-potentially-hazardous foods from their home kitchen without a commercial kitchen license.

What This Means for Our Products

As a licensed Texas Cottage Bakery, Yours Truly Baked Goods bakes all of our products in a home kitchen. Our products are made fresh to order with quality ingredients and a whole lot of love.

Under Texas law, cottage food products must be labeled with the following statement: "This food is made in a home kitchen and is not inspected by the Department of State Health Services or a local health department."

Approved Cottage Food Products

Under the Texas Cottage Food Law, we are permitted to sell: Baked goods (cakes, cookies, muffins, breads, tarts), Candy and chocolate-covered items, Dried herbs and seasonings, Jams, jellies, and preserves (with certain restrictions), Roasted nuts, and Dehydrated fruits and vegetables.
